Tarot Learning: Day 3!

Hey there;

First off, Happy Litha/ Summer solstice? So I watched the sunrise this morning and pulled five cards for a spread.

To start with I found a rose quartz stone, and lit a couple candles (a beeswax candle and a french vanilla candle – both yellow) in order to set the mood, I then watched the sunrise and greatly enjoyed it – if I hadn’t been as tired as I was I’d have taken photos of the sunrise, because it was a stunning display of shades of pinks and purples – honestly the colours reminded me a lot of my deck, pinks purples and the clear blue of the sky as well. I then shuffled the deck while looking at the sunrise, And I pulled the following cards:

What I should leave in the past: 2 of Swords (reversed)

What I should take into the future: 10 of Swords (reversed)

A challenge I will need to conquer before midwinter: Knight of Swords (upright)

A quality/skill I will need to master: Queen of Swords (upright)

Spirits/deities watching over me: Knight of Cups (Upright)

Before looking into the meaning of the cards I used what I know about the suits and cards already to record my initial thoughts:

So right off the bat, there are four Sword cards, that’s a whole lot of masculine air energy. A lot of swords in a reading can mean mental struggles or a warning to be cautious of what is occurring around me. The swords could relate to self-expression?

The Challenge card (Knight of Swords) could possibly relate to an air sign? An Aquarius/Libra/Gemini, possibly a man from the masculine energy in the reading?

2 Knights – Cups and Swords – common message?

All minor arcana – short term?

After this, I went to sleep and when I woke up I dove into writing up information about each card and then looked back over the spread and tried to identify what it could mean for me. I’ll put a shortened version, to show my thinking process for this.

What I should leave in the past: 2 of Swords (reversed):

Stuck in the middle of 2 sides? Acting as a peacemaker but feeling stuck. Listen to intuition.

What I should take into the future: 10 of Swords (reversed):

An old situation that ended badly, resurfacing pain – deal with it, but it is passing. Release memories of a painful past and move forward.

A challenge I will need to conquer before midwinter: Knight of Swords (upright):

Not planning ahead? Acting too quickly, need to use my intellect to achieve goals and remember to develop my communication skills.

A quality/skill I will need to master: Queen of Swords (upright):

Clear Boundaries! Call out anyone who crosses them, possibly intimidate people because I expect people to respect my boundaries – tel it like it is.

Spirits/deities watching over me: Knight of Cups (Upright):

In touch with feminine side? Possibly a female spirit/deity? In love with love, charming, romantic. On a mission – humanitarianism, romance, altruism, beauty. Intuition is key for me here? Aphrodite came to mind, along with Venus, Bastet and Hathor. But not sure about any of these.

~

That’s all for today – this will possibly slow down and I’ll do maybe one card a day and backdate the posts because I’ll be working and won’t have access to my Laptop – I’ll try typing it on my phone but it will not be as pretty.

I hope your day is as pleasant as you 🙂
